Crochet Vest Pattern for Women – Carson Slipover
Cozy ribbed crochet slipover vest pattern for modern women.
I consider vests to be versatile and easy-to-wear garments for almost every season. They are incredibly cute with a nice shirt and a pair of jeans.

You can dress it up or down with a pair of heels or sneakers. You can even add extra layers for warmth with a mock neck blouse.
The Carson slipover vest for women is an easy crochet pattern with beautiful simple ribbing all over the garment.
It nicely imitates the k1, p1 ribbing of knitting, which I am really fond of, and I believe is a timeless design of style and comfort.
The Carson vest shares the same name and it’s in the same family as the Carson tea towel, from my Rustic Tea Towels Collection.
Plus, it also has a mini version for kids with sizes from 6 months until 15 years of age. So, it truly covers all sizes for everybody in your family.
Crochet slipover vest construction
The vest itself is made in one piece from side to side with vertical ribbing. The bottom ribbing is also made at the same time along with the main part of the garment.
You just have to sew one side seam and the shoulder seams when you are done.
I believe the stitch I used looks so good on a garment, and if you know me, I love to create knit-look crochet patterns and I adore a good crochet ribbing.
And this is how the simple and timeless design for the Carson crochet vest pattern was born.
Best yarn for a crochet women’s vest
This sleeveless crochet top was made with a worsted weight yarn #4. The yarn was kindly provided by We Crochet and I used the tweed version of the Brava family.
A nice acrylic yarn, soft to the touch and easy to handle.
I don’t really like working with acrylic yarns, but I know that all are not created equal, and I have already used this one in multiple projects.
So, I know that I can recommend it safely, even for people who usually don’t enjoy acrylic yarn. And of course, it’s super affordable.

- If you want to adjust the length of this garment you may add some stitches to the initial chain. Four (4) stitches are about an inch (2.5 cm) of extra length. Add as many stitches as you like for the length you want to achieve, but please keep in mind to add your extra stitches to the final stitch count of every row.
- Picture your added stitches at the bottom of your garment. Nothing will change at the upper part of your armholes and neck opening. Just the stitch count for the extra length. Do not alter the numbers on the upper part of your vest.
- Also, keep in mind that adding extra length means you’ll use more yarn.

Join new yarn at the bottom of the armhole.
