Stylish and feminine crochet raffia summer hat. A must accessory for all ages.
Most of my patterns come out of necessity for me. I did in fact ordered the yarn with a different project in mind last year, but life had different plans.

Since I had my baby girl, my life and my projects revolve around her. She needed a new hat for the hot summer days as the old one didn’t fit anymore, so here it is!
The crochet raffia summer hat is a quick project, especially if you are used to crocheting with raffia. Nothing too difficult, just a little different than yarn.

It will take you just a few rows to get used to it if you are new to this kind of yarn. I would definitely recommend raffia yarn for this project because it has a nice structure and keeps the hat in shape without any problems.
On the other hand, if you are feeling adventurous you could try a cotton yarn, but not a very soft one. It would make the hat too floppy.

You will need:
Sport weight raffia yarn (I used Ra-Ra Raffia from WATG)
US F/4.0 mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
yarn needle
scissors
Abbreviations
MR:
magic ring
R: round
sc: single crochet
hdc: half
double crochet
dc: double crochet
ch: chain
st(s):
stitch(es)
sl st: slip stitch
FO: fasten off
Yardage:
Approximately 100-140-200 m (110-153- yds)
Gauge:
7 sts and 12 rows is 4″ in pattern

Special stitches:
The stitches in the bracket (sc, ch1, dc) are called a cluster stitch and they count as one stitch in the final count of the round.
The same applies to the 3 treble crochet of the brim.
Notes:
- The crochet raffia summer hat pattern is written in standard US terms.
- From the second round on you always, join and then turn.
- The cluster (sc, ch1, dc) is always placed in the ch1-sp of the previous round. In the pattern, it is just referred to as a stitch.

Greetings,
I am Belinda Janet from Oakland, California, and I just learned about you from "Hooked For Hope By Tiffany Hansen" on her Youtube channel making your "Essentials Baby Blanket!". The Essentials Baby Blanket is so beautiful and the stitch pattern as well. Simply Beautiful. Ms Hansen spoke so warmly about you, I felt I needed to seek you and learn crochet techniques and methods and knowledge with you. Already, I love the Raffia Hat! Best regards, Belinda Janet
