I always get way too excited about new projects. Usually, time can’t pass fast enough from idea to completion. The Aspen rug was one of those projects.
From the moment the idea was born in my head, I couldn’t stop thinking of it. I had scheduled to release it later in autumn-winter, but I just couldn’t wait!

Decided to order the yarn immediately and started working on it, the moment the postman dropped the package in my hands. It came out effortlessly and started growing bigger and bigger fast!
The Aspen rug crochet pattern is one of those mindfull projects that will warm your lap for a few days during cold winter nights. The pattern is really easy to follow and it creates a cozy and luxury effect.

This rug crochet pattern was inspired by the hygge movement that has become more known to the public the past two years. If you have no idea what this strange word is, let me explain more.
According to Wikipedia “Hygge is a Danish and Norwegian word for a mood of coziness and comfortable conviviality with feelings of wellness and contentment”.

Many people, describe it as a feeling, more than a lifestyle. It is the feeling of coziness and intimacy. It is all about slowing down, enjoying a cup of coffee or tea. Alone or with friends. Sitting by the fire with a good book or a glass of wine. Enjoying the candlelight, the smell of something sweet baking in the oven. Just being present.

Since I love the simplicity and the cool tones of the Nordic design so, the Aspen rug was born. It is a quite big area rug, measuring around 42 inches (106 cm) in diameter. I can picture it in front of a big armchair, besides a floor lamp in your favorite quiet corner of the house.

It is worked with bulky yarn and it creates a nice texture in 3 different parts of the rug. As mentioned again, it is very easy to make and won’t take much of your time. You can easily make it in a few afternoons.
The Aspen rug would also make a great gift for a baby shower or nursery décor. I believe there are people in your life that are searching for something different than the ordinary baby gifts. With this crochet pattern, you will be offering them a great photo prop for the baby’s first photos!
